Japanese Patrol Boat

(Depth 18m - 25m)
This is a deep sea trawler with refrigerated holds. They were pressed into military service as a coastal patrol boat by the Japanese. The origin and identity of this ship is unknown, but it was clearly sunk by a small bomb or shell as can be clearly seen on the starboard side.
The wreck is about 38 metres long, standing upright in 25 metres of water. The deck is at 20m and wheelhouse at 16m. The hull is in reasonable condition, but the wheelhouse has begun to collapse. A good variety of fish can be found here. Limited penetration is possible into the engine room to examine the 6 cylinder diesel and the large refridgeration compressor.
This wreck is best dived using 36% Nitrox to extend bottom time.
