USS Lanikai was a sailing schooner with diesel power. After an illustrious career as a millionaire plaything and MGM movie star, she server as a spy ship and costal patrol in the war, and sank in Subic Bay just after the war. A hardback book of the ship's life was published such was it's celebrity.

Missing for many years, she was found in 1998 in reasonable condition and intact in Triboa Bay at 35 metres, and was dived in secret. She was 'found' again publicly in 2002 and permission was granted to recover the ships artifacts. This recovery practically destroyed the wreck. The remains are the engine, fuel tank, ropes, and other paraphernalia, the base of the hull, and one toilet! More a dive for historical interest than the actual wreck, there are however large lapu-lapu on the side.
