San Quintin

(Depth 16m)

The San Quintin was a Spanish gunship. She was sunk in 1898 by the Spanish along with 2 other smaller ships to block the only navigable channel on the east side of Grande Island.

The wreck is around 75 metres in length. Lying only 16m deep, this site offers all levels of diver a good dive. The wreck has broken up, but the bow, stern, and steam boilers are still clear to see, along with both cannon mountings. The remainer of the steel hull lies in broken sections.

A wide variety of marine life can be found here. In addition, on the reef alongside there are around 12 giant clams almost 1 metre accross, all offering excellent photo opportunities.
